This is a super easy and tons of fun DIY. Its great for a rainy day or to hep use up some of that candy left over from Halloween. This is a Jolly Rancher Melt. We plan on using these to decorate our Gingerbread House and we wanted some fun toys and shapes.
All you need is silicon molds for the shapes you want, Jolly ranchers or similar hard candy, a hammer, and zip lock bags.
So here we go.
Step 1: Break the candy
We unwrapped and separated the Jolly Ranchers by color in to their own zip-lock bags. Then with a hammer Owen broke the candy in to small pieces.
Step 2: Fill the molds
Next we filled the molds with the broken candy. In this case we did not mix colors, we wanted all solid color results.
Step 3: Melt and cool
Once the molds are filled place them in a preheated oven at 250 *F. Check them every 10-15 minutes to see if the candy has completely melted. This will vary with mold size. But be patient. You do not want to over heat and boil the candy ( I did that the first time). Its a mess.
Let cool and pop the shapes out of the molds! That’s it and enjoy.
Mine got super sticky after a day. How do you keep it from getting sticky?
Interesting, I didn’t have that issue, sorry. Maybe storing it in the refrigerator would help with that. Another option is also using powdered sugar, to coat them after they are removed from the mold. Good luck.
ok thank you. I live in Florida and we have heat and humidity.
